Cracking Behavior of ECC-based Jointless Cement Concrete Pavement

Abstract
Poor joint quality in cement concrete pavements results in reduced driving comfort,increased pavement distresses,and difficulties in maintenance.To address this issue,this study proposes a method that place the Engi-neered Cementitious Composites(ECC)connection sections at the joints of the cement concrete pavement to built the Jointless Cement Concrete Pavement(JCCP).A constitutive model of ECC considering the random distribution of fibers was developed to simulate its mechanical behavior under four-point bending.All the relative errors between the simulated and experimental results for key parameters-including initial cracking load,peak load,and peak de-flection-were below 15%;A simulation method for ECC cracking was also proposed.Furthermore,a JCCP model incorporating both ECC and conventional Portland Cement Concrete(PCC)joints was established to investigate the cracking behavior.The results indicate that ECC joints are superior in ductility performance and crack control to PCC;ECC also exhibits excellent crack resistance and durability in the JCCP,effectively enhancing the overall me-chanical performance of the pavement.关键词
