Abstract

Focusing on the instability of high-speed railway subgrade slopes induced by the combined effects of ex-treme rainfall and train dynamic loads,this study systematically investigates the dynamic response characteristics,settlement evolution,and slope deformation patterns under three working conditions of cyclic train dynamic loading,coupling dynamic loading with intermittent rainfall,and coupling dynamic loading with continuous rainfall by 1∶7 scale model tests.The results demonstrate:1)Under dynamic loading,the amplitude of subgrade dynamic stress decreases along in depth and horizontal directions,among which the most pronounced responses is observed in the surface bed and slope crest regions;The continuous rainfall significantly increases the shallow soil moisture content.The accumulation of pore water pressure elevates the amplitude of dynamic stress by up to 11%than non-rainfall conditions.2)Plastic deformation rate remaines higher during the initial cyclic loading,but gradually stabilizes with prolonged loading.Rainfall amplifies settlement effects remarkably,with cumulative surface settlement(10 cm depth)surging by approximately 135%and deep-layer settlement(60 cm depth)increasing by 67%under continuous rainfall.3)Slope deformation tends to stabilize under sole dynamic loading,whereas the combined action of continuous rain-fall and dynamic loading causes abrupt pore water pressure rise and effective stress attenuation,driving the slope into accelerated deformation stages and inducing translational sliding,with a sudden displacement mutation of 4.7 mm at the slope shoulder.The findings elucidate the degradation mechanism of hydro-mechanical coupling effects on sub-grade stability,providing scientific support for high-speed railway construction and disaster prevention design.
