Abstract

With the improvement of acquisition efficiency,the amount of seismic data is increasing exponentially.It is challenging to process massive seismic data on board.The transmission of massive data also faces severe problems due to the limitation of network bandwidth.Seismic data compression technology with high fidelity and high compression ratio is needed to meet the needs of quality control and fast track.The compression ratio should be improved while meeting the requirements of a high signal-to-noise ratio.Transform coding is mainly studied in two aspects:sparse transform and quantization coding.The embedded zerotree wavelet(EZW)algorithm has superior compression performance.This paper proposes a novel approach combining 2D-DHT(Discrete Hartley Transform)and DWT(Discrete Wavelet Transform).Unlike EZW encoding in the t-x domain,this paper utilizes the sparsity of the Hartley domain and the multi-resolution characteristics of the wavelet transform for EZW encoding.To improve the efficiency of quantization encoding,a quaternary encoding algorithm is proposed,which reduces the number of encoding iterations in the main scan,resulting in improved computational efficiency and data compression performance.Synthetic and field data experiments have shown that the compression performance of the proposed algorithm is better than that of the conventional EZW algorithm.
