Abstract

Oil leakage to the ground will cause changes in the resistivity and polarizability of the underground medium so that it can be detected by the time domain IP method(TDIP).Modelling,calculation,and physical tests are carried out to analyze the detection effect.Results show that the apparent resistivity varies nonlinearly and monotonically with the target resistivity.When the resistivity of the target body is less than 1/20 of the background soil or more than 20 times the background soil,the relative difference in apparent resistivity will reach saturation.The apparent IP parameters(apparent polarizability,apparent IP resistivity,apparent IP conductivity)change linearly with the target's polarizability,the high polarization anomaly is larger than the low polarization anomaly.The apparent resistivity and apparent polarizability can reflect the conductive and highly polarized target at the same time,and the apparent IP conductivity combines the two anomalies to highlight the anomaly of the target.The resistive and low polarization body can only be reflected by the apparent resistivity,as the apparent polarizability anomaly is much smaller.The detection ability of this method is discussed with the relative anomaly value of 20%as the threshold.For a low resistance and high polarization target,when the resistivity ratio is 0.1 and the polarizability ratio is 10,the maximum detection depth can reach 3 times the target radius.For a high resistance and low polarization target,when the resistivity ratio is 10 and the polarizability ratio is 0.1,the maximum detectable depth reaches 1.5 times the radius of the target.
