Combining magnetotelluric and three-component seismic frequency resonance techniques to detect geothermal in the Shangri-La economic development zone

Abstract
Geothermal energy is a promising renewable energy source that is both clean and sustainable.The Shangri-La Economic Development Zone in Diqing.Yunnan,is situated in the north-south geotropical zone of Sichuan and Yunnan,an area abundant in geothermal resources and possessing immense development potential.In this study,magnetotelluric(MT)and three-component seismic frequency resonance techniques were used to evaluate the deep reserves of geothermal resources in the study area.The MT survey revealed the stratigraphic lithology and distribution of nine fracture zones in the study area and identified eight fracture-type thermal reserve development sites.This was followed by a three-component frequency resonance seismic survey,which combined the wave impedance contour profiles from the frequency resonance seismic inversion with regional geological data to infer seven fracture zones in the study area.A total of six geothermal exploration wells were sequentially selected in the areas where the MT low resistivity anomaly and the wave impedance anomaly of the resonance profile were in good agreement.This study provides a reliable physical exploration basis for the future development of geothermal resources in the area by identifying the stratigraphic lithology and fracture structure distribution in the study area.关键词
