摘要

Abstract

This paper presents a comprehensive review of the current research on consolidation materials for paper-based cultural heritage,which are categorized into three primary types:natural materials,synthetic materials,and composite materials.Its overarching aim is to offer novel insights to advance conservation research on paper cultural relics.Natural materials,typified by polysaccharides and cellulose derivatives,boast significant advantages such as wide availability and inherent environmental compatibility.They have been proven effective in enhancing the mechanical strength and aging resistance of paper substrates.Nevertheless,rigorous verification of their long-term stability remains an enduring challenge in the field.Synthetic materials,including polyurethanes,silicones,and acrylic polymers,are characterized by high customizability and exceptional weatherability.While they have demonstrated efficacy in improving key properties of paper,their practical application is constrained by limitations-most notably,the stringent requirements for precise concentration control during treatment processes.Composite materials strategically integrate the beneficial attributes of both natural and synthetic components,thereby exhibiting synergistic multifunctionality and enhanced environmental friendliness.These systems are capable of simultaneously achieving consolidation,deacidification,and antibacterial effects.However,their broader adoption is impeded by the inherent complexity of their preparation processes,high production costs,and a critical lack of long-term performance data under realistic conservation conditions.Future research directions are expected to focus on several critical areas:the development of rigorous methodologies for assessing the long-term stability of materials,dedicated investigations into greener and safer alternative formulations,systematic cost optimization to enable viable large-scale production,and pioneering explorations of stimuli-responsive"smart"material systems.
