Petrogenesis of Reshui Complex Pluton in Northern Guangdong and Its Implications for Uranium Exploration

Abstract
Reshui complex pluton is situated in the south-central portion of China's most significant U-deposit bearing granite of Guidong complex granite.Based on its lithological characteristics,this pluton can be further subdivided into three distinct granite bodies:Reshui,Hongling,and Pingfeng.To elucidate the petrogenesis of Reshui complex pluton and assess its potential for uranium mineralization,this study integrates field geological investigations,zircon U-Pb dating,and whole-rock geochemical analyses.The results indicate that the forming ages of the three granite bodies are 162 Ma±2 Ma,161 Ma±2 Ma,and 161 Ma±1 Ma,respectively,which are regarded as the same period within the error range and interpreted as products of different phase of the same magmatic event,suggesting that Reshui complex pluton were formed in Early Yanshanian.Whole-rock geochemical analyses reveal that this complex pluton are peraluminous to strongly peraluminous granite,derived from the partial melting of Paleoproterozoic clay-rich metapelites under a post-orogenic extensional tectonic setting.Mineralogical and geochemical features confirm that Reshui complex pluton is a typical U-bearing granite in South China with the potential to host economically viable uranium resources.Future exploration efforts should focus on areas characterized by intense hydrothermal activity along the northeast-oriented fault zone and the contact zones between Reshui and Pingfeng granite bodies.关键词
