The Effect of Exogenous Calcium on the Growth and Physi-ological Characteristics of Oat Seedlings under Salt Stress

Abstract
In this study,Baiyan No.7 oat was used as material to investigate the effect of exogenous calcium on the growth of oat seedlings under salt stress by hydroponics.Under 200 mmol/L compound salt stress(NaCl∶Na2SO4=1∶1),calcium chloride(CaCl2)at concentrations of 10,20,30,and 40 mmol/L was sprayed on the leaves of oat seedlings(three leaves and one heart).The effects of different concentra-tions of CaCl2 on the morphological indicators and physiological characteristics of oat seedlings were ana-lyzed,and the suitable Ca2+concentration for alleviating salt stress damage was screened.The results indi-cated that 200 mmol/L salt stress significantly inhibited the normal growth of oat seedlings.Compared with no calcium treatment,the plant height and SOD activity in leaves of oat seedlings treated with exog-enous CaCl2 at a concentration of 10 mmol/L were increased by 9.31%and 46.99%,respectively(P<0.05),the contents of proline and malondialdehyde decreased by 55.32%and 18.84%,respectively.The relative conductivity and soluble sugar content decreased significantly(P<0.05)at CaCl2 concentrations of 10 and 20 mmol/L than that in no CaCl2 treatments,and were the lowest at 10 mmol/L,which decreased by 48.59%and 33.74%,respectively.The content of K+in oat roots was higher in CaCl2 treatments of both 10 and 20 mmol/L was than that in no CaCl2 treatments,and differences was significant at 20 mmol/L(P<0.05),reaching 30.62%.The Na+/K+ratio also significantly reduced by 29.35%(P<0.05)at CaCl2 concentration of 20 mmol/L(P<0.05).The content of K+in oat leaves was higher in CaCl2 treat-ments of 10,20 and 30 mmol/L than that in no CaCl2 treatment,and reached a significant difference at 30 mmol/L(P<0.05),increased by 26.22%.The Na+/K+ratio was lowest at CaCl2 treatment concen-tration of 30 mmol/L.In conclusion,the optimum concentration of exogenous Ca²⁺ is 10 mmol/L,which can improve the activity of antioxidant enzymes,reduce the membrane damage,and alleviate the harm of salt stress.关键词
