摘要

Abstract

The presence and distribution of permafrost profoundly influence surface energy balance,hydrological processes,and ecosystem stability,while also regulating the dynamics of terrestrial carbon stocks.As such,permafrost mapping is a critical foundation for assessing the impacts climate change and understanding carbon-climate feedback mechanisms.In this study,we compiled 1,749 ground truth samples covering both permafrost and non-permafrost locations,and integrated multi-source environmental predictors-including air temperature,precipitation,snow cover days,elevation,and soil properties.Using an optimized feature set and a random forest model,we performed permafrost occurrence prediction,evaluated by 5-fold cross-validation repeated 40 times.The model achieved an accuracy of 0.936 and an F1 score of 0.936,indicating strong generalization capability.Based on this framework,we developed a dataset of permafrost distribution across Eurasia for the years 2000,2005,2010,2015,and 2020,with a spatial resolution of 1 km.The resulting maps exhibit strong spatial continuity and accurately capture permafrost patterns in both high-latitude and high-altitude regions.This dataset provides a valuable foundation for analyzing permafrost changes,assessing carbon release risks,simulating regional climate responses,and supporting environmental monitoring efforts.
