Changes in lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood and bone marrow of patients with postmenopausal osteoporosis

Abstract
Objective To analyzes the correlation between lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood and bone marrow of postmenopausal women and bone mineral density,and to preliminarily discusses the correlation between bone immunity characteristics and postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMOP).Methods According to the standard,44 postmeno-pausal women who underwent joint surgery were included as the research objects.According to the bone density of femoral neck,they were divided into osteoporosis group(n=18),osteopenia group(n=16)and normal osteopenia group(n=10).Samples of peripheral blood and bone marrow of proximal femur were taken from all subjects,and the proportion and absolute count of lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood and bone marrow and the proportion of T lymphocyte subsets in bone marrow were analyzed by flow cytometry.Bone mineral density was measured by dual energy X-ray absorptionmetry(DXA).SPSS and Graphpad software were used to analyze the correlation between bone mineral density and lymphocyte subsets.Results Correlation analysis showed that the proportion of CD4 cells in bone marrow(P=0.033)and Treg in bone marrow(P=0.007)were positively correlated with PMOP.Kruskal-Wallis test showed that the proportion of CD4 cells in bone marrow(P=0.037)and the proportion of Treg in bone marrow(P=0.011)showed a changing trend among the three groups of osteoporosis,osteopenia and normal bone mass.The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve indicated that the proportion of Treg in bone marrow had predictive value for PMOP,and the area under the curve(AUC)was 0.815.Conclusion There was a significant correlation between the changes of lymphocyte subsets and bone mineral density in postmenopausal women in this study.The study suggests that the bone immune characteristics of postm-enopausal osteoporosis deserve further study.关键词
