Abstract

Taking into account that pedestrians with different characteristics have different perception and compliance of evacuation signs during emergency evacuation,rules of information perception and transmission of evacuation signs and a method for calculating the level of sign compliance are proposed.These rules and method are incorporated into the exit choice model and evacuation simulation model.The way-finding and evacuation process of heterogeneous crowd in the scenario with unknown exit are simulated.The simulation results show that:①Increasing the sign compliance rate can improve evacuation efficiency.However,when pedestrian densi-ty is high,an excessively high sign compliance rate will reduce evacuation efficiency.②Compared with male,the female exhibit higher sign compliance.As age increases,the sign compliance rate first rises and then falls.③In the three simulated scenarios,the evacuation efficiency is highest when two exits are set on the adjacent walls.When two exits are set on the same wall,the differences in evacuation efficiency among different genders and ages are the greatest,while the differences are the smallest when two exits are set on the opposite walls.This re-sult can provide quantitative basis for optimizing the configuration of evacuation signs and crowd guidance strategies.
