Abstract

In this study,the relevant domestic and international literatures on drugs for treating osteoporosis in recent fifteen years were consulted to summarize and analyze the anti-osteoporosis components,effects and molecular mechanisms of Chinese medicinal materials rich in flavonoids.Yinyanghuo(Epimedii Folium)is a commonly used Chinese medicine for preventing osteoporosis.Its main component,icariin,inhibits osteoclast differentiation and bone matrix degradation by targeting sex hormones.Animal experiments have shown that icariin can improve bone mineral density and regulate bone metabolic indexes,and it has also demonstrated good effects in clinical studies,which can be used as an important option for the treatment of osteoporosis.The anti-osteoporotic effect of Gusuibu(Rhizoma Drynariae)is mainly derived from the component of total flavonoids.Studies have shown that total flavonoids of Gusuibu can inhibit the formation of scleroproteins and promote angiogenesis in the process of bone formation.In recent years,nanovesicles released by Gusuibu have become a new direction for the treatment of osteoporosis because they are rich in specific biofunctional molecules,which offers the possibility of developing novel therapeutic platforms.Total flavonoids in eucommia ulmoides leaves show a remarkable anti-osteoporosis effect,which can inhibit the occurrence of osteoporosis by regulating signaling pathways such as VEGF,IL-17 and NF-κB.Total flavonoids in eucommiae ulmoides leaves can regulate the expression of cytokines related to bone metabolism,promote the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts,and simultaneously inhibit the activity of osteoclasts,thereby achieving the purpose of treating osteoporosis.In addition,Chinese medicines such as Shannai(Rhizoma Kaempferiae)and Yangcong(Allium cepa)are also rich in flavonoids.Flavonoids in Shannai have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory response properties,which can protect bone tissues from free radical damage.Flavonoids such as quercetin in Yangcong can promote bone formation and inhibit bone resorption by regulating bone metabolism-related signalling pathways,providing more options for the treatment of osteoporosis.Chinese medicinal materials rich in flavonoids have a promising future in the treatment of osteoporosis.Future research should focus on the large-scale cultivation of these Chinese medicinal materials,as well as the development and utilization of osteoporosis treatment drugs,particularly the exploration of the compatibility of Chinese medicinal materials,expecting to develop safer and more effective osteoporosis therapeutic drugs and provide more choices for patients.Meanwhile,in-depth study of its action mechanism can provide a more solid theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis,so as to promote the application and development of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of osteoporosis.
