Differentiating and treating coronary heart disease plus depression and anxiety based on the theory of six-meridian Qi transformation

Abstract
Coronary atherosclerotic heart disease(CHD),one of the common cardiovascular diseases,predominantly affects middle-aged and elderly individuals,characterized by high morbidity,high fatality rate,and a prolonged course of disease,often requiring lifelong medication,which frequently leads to depression plus anxiety states in CHD patients.Western medicine typically treats CHD plus depression and anxiety by concurrent application of cardiovascular drugs and psychotropic drugs.However,psychotropic drugs exhibit significant adverse reactions,and their interactions with cardiovascular drugs are not clear,which may increase the potential risks of cardiovascular adverse events,thus imposing limitations on their clinical application.CHD plus depression and anxiety is a typical heart-psychological disorders.Based on the theoretical framework of"the heart governing the mind and blood vessels"in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),the treatment focuses on harmonizing both the physical and mental aspects,achieving favorable outcomes,with broad clinical prospects.In this study,combined with Professor DU Wuxun's academic thoughts and literature research,the basic content of six-meridian Qi(气)transformation theory is summarized to clarify its academic value and clinical significance and analyze the pathogenesis and treatment principles of CHD plus depression and anxiety.The pathogenesis of CHD plus depression and anxiety is closely related to six-meridian,primarily involving the disharmony of wind and fire between Jueyin(厥阴)and Shaoyang(少阳)meridians,the dysfunction of opening and closing between Yangming(阳明)and Taiyin(太阴)meridians,and the imbalance of water and fire between Shaoyin(少阴)and Taiyang(太阳)meridians,which leads to Qi stagnation in the heart and chest,obstruction of heart vessels,and malnutrition of the mind,culminating in the disease.The pathological location mainly involves the liver and stomach,and it is associated with pathological factors such as Qi stagnation,phlegm,blood stasis,and deficiency.Accordingly,the fundamental treatment principle of"clearing Jueyin meridian and harmonizing Yangming meridian"has been applied to treat the disease,with promising efficacy.Treating CHD plus depression and anxiety based on the six-meridian Qi transformation theory represents a viable approach,which reflects the basic characteristics of TCM such as the"holistic concept"and"correspondence between human and nature",simplifies complex pathological mechanisms,and warrants further research and promotion.关键词
