Abstract
Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical effects of the Gei Herba extract in the prevention and reduction of gingival inflammation.Methods This clinical study was designed according to the principles of randomization,control and double-blindness.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria,100 patients were randomly divided into two groups.Five cases in the control group dropped during the study and 45 cases were finally included in the control group.In the experimental group,four cases dropped out during the study and three were lost for follow-up,with 43 cases ultimately being enrolled.The experimental group was treated with toothpaste containing the Gei Herba extract,while the control group was treated with toothpaste with-out the extract.The plaque index(PLI),gingival index(GI)and sulcus bleeding index(SBI)were analyzed at 1,3 and 6 months.Results The PLI,GI and SBI scores at 1,3 and 6 months after treatment decreased com-pared to the scores before treatment.Of these,the scores at 3 and 6 months were lower than those at 1 month,and the scores at 6 months were lower than those at 3 months.The experimental group had lower scores than the control group.The difference was significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion The toothpaste rich in Gei Herba extract can significantly improve gingival inflammation and is therefore worthy of promotion.关键词
