Life-friendliness in Engineering and Life-education for Engineers

Abstract
Engineering is closely related to human life,as it provides the specifically functional support and service to human survival.Likewise,it is also directly or indirectly associated with the natural animals and plants in the process of its construction and operation.Therefore,as a materialized carrier in the evolution of human civilization,engineering maintains close ties with various life forms in nature.It is essential to gradually establish and improve the theoretical and practical system of engineering life-friendliness.Based on respect,cherishing,and friendliness toward life,we should foster a life outlook,an ecological perspective,and cultivate values,which are endowed with mission consciousness and humanistic spirit.Comprehensively integrate the concept of life-friendliness into all aspects of engineering construction and all stages of the entire engineering life cycle to help maintain the harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.Optimize the functional settings and technical support for life-friendliness-based engineering.First,provide users with all-round friendly services.Adhere to people-oriented principles,and improve the safety,greenness,and health performance of the projects.Pay attention to the special usage needs of the elderly,children,and disabled groups,and increase the safety and friendliness of various service facilities.Continuously promote the construction of barrier-free environments and provide users with professional,convenient,and warm guarantee services.Second,show care and kindliness to animal life.In view of the situation where engineering construction may affect the habitat and survival activities of animals,fully consider relevant factors in aspects such as project site selection,land occupation,construction,and operation and maintenance.By adopting measures such as construction avoidance,regional connection,support substitution,measure compensation,and information prompts,optimize the engineering plan and reduce ecological impacts.Third,coexist in harmony with plant life.In engineering construction,enhance plant protection awareness,reduce vegetation damage,protect soil vitality,and maintain the stable balance of the natural ecosystem.Through various forms of plant cultivation such as ground planting,vertical ecological green walls,and roof greening,provide urban residents a nature-friendly green experience.Incorporate the value concept and technical methods of engineering life-friendliness into relevant norms,regulations,construction standards,and development plans to promote the implementation of attention and protection for human,animal and plant lives in engineering practice.Engineers are the designers and implementors for such life-friendly characteristics in engineering.Having a deep understanding,keen perception,and warm love for life are the essential qualities of outstanding engineers.Carrying out life education for engineers is of far-reaching significance for cultivating engineers'humanistic qualities,helping the development of ecological civilization,and promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for humans and nature.This paper proposes to construct the system architecture of life education for engineers.From the perspectives of humanistic,life,ecological,and engineering education,this architecture helps engineers to enhance their awareness of life-friendliness,improve their organizational coordination and professional technical abilities in facing life-friendliness needs,and maintain the sustainability of engineering and the environment.Hence,life-education should be widely promoted in fields such as basic education,professional education,engineering training,and public communication,and the public's understanding,concern,support,and participation in engineering life-friendliness should be advocated.关键词
