The effect of dietary silage bamboo shoot shells on the growth performance and breeding economic benefits of Nubian goats

Abstract
The aim of this experiment is to investigate the effects of different levels of silage bamboo shoot shells on the growth perfor-mance and breeding economic benefits of Nubian goats.Forty five healthy Nubian goat rams with similar body weight were selected for the experiment and randomly divided into three groups(the control group,experimental group I,and experimental group II),with 15 goats in each group.Each group was fed with feed containing 0%,15%,and 30%silage bamboo shoot shells under the same feeding standards for fattening experiments,with a pre-test period of 5 days and a pre-test period of 30 days.The results showed that:1)the average daily feed intake of experimental group II was significantly higher than that of the control group(P＜0.05),and the dry matter feed intake was significantly lower than that of the control group(P＜0.05).There were no significant differences in final body weight,average daily weight gain,and feed to gain ratio between the groups(P>0.05).2)The feed costs of experiment group I and experiment group II decreased by 10.11%and 19.15%respectively compared to the control group,and the breeding profit increased by 19.71%and 2.24%respectively in the experiment.Conclusion:Silage bamboo shoot shells as a substitute for roughage have no significant ef-fect on the growth performance of Nubian goats.Based on the comprehensive breeding benefits,a 15%substitution level reduces feed costs by 10.11%and increases breeding profits,making it the most suitable substitution level.关键词
