Research Progress in the Overcoming and Utilization of Self-incompatibility in Brassicaceae Vegetables

Abstract
Self-incompatibility(SI)is a crucial reproductive trait in Brassicaceae plants,with profound implications for crop breeding.This review synthesizes recent advances in SI research on Brassicaceae vegetables,emphasizing its molecular mechanisms(e.g.,S-locus gene regulation)and artificial intervention strategies.Studies demonstrate that biological methods(e.g.,bud pollination,delayed pollination,stigma secretion application,mixed pollen pollination),chemical approaches(e.g.,hormone treatment,CO2 exposure,saline solution pollination),and physical techniques(e.g.,radiation treatment,electro-assisted pollination,heat-assisted pollination)can effectively overcome SI barriers.Among these,bud pollination shows the optimal practical efficacy,and the combined treatment of saline solution pollination and CO2 exposure also exhibits the potential for broader adoption.Furthermore,this article highlights the utilization of SI systems in hybrid seed production and agricultural applications.Future research should prioritize elucidating the molecular regulatory networks of SI,with a focus on cloning and functional characterization of self-compatibility genes,thereby providing a theoretical foundation for genetic improvement in Brassicaceae crops.关键词
