Abstract

Turf production in paddy fields has become an increasingly prevalent non-grain land use pattern in suburban areas due to its high economic returns.However,the induced cultivation obstacles seriously affect the arable land quality and grain security.To systematically explore the changes in soil properties after turf production in paddy fields,this study conducted a thorough review of the global literature.Our analysis categorizes the primary cultivation obstacle factors into physical factors(plow layer thinning,soil compaction,soil fragmentation,and waterlogging),chemical factors(soil organic matter losses,nutrient imbalance,and soil nutrient retention and supply weakening),and biological factors(low microbial biomass and enzyme activity).In view of these obstacle factors,this paper proposes the corresponding physical measures(deep tillage and rotary tillage for clay,flooding combined with soil improvers for sandy soil),chemical measures(applying biochar and green manure),and biological measures(inoculation of microbial agents and turf-crop rotation).In the future,attention should be paid to the research and development of low-cost plough layer construction materials,establishment of a soil quality evaluation system including indicators such as infiltration rate and compaction,and long-term monitoring of reclamation effects,which are expected to provide theoretical support for the rational reclamation of degraded paddy fields.
