Abstract

Traditional single-degree-of-freedom sound absorbers require large structural volumes to achieve low-frequency sound absorption,which limits their practical applications.To address this limitation,a sound absorber struc-ture covered with folded perforated plates has been investigated.A combination of theoretical analysis,numerical simu-lations,and experimental validation is employed to explore the design of folded perforated channels within the absorber.This design extends the sound propagation path,enabling low-frequency sound absorption without increasing the overall thickness of the sound absorber.The study focuses on evaluating the sound absorption performance of the sound ab-sorber with different folding channel designs of the perforated panel and proposes a non-uniform panel design method for broadband absorption.To predict the sound absorption performance of the proposed configuration,a theoretical model based on the transfer matrix method has been established.The results demonstrate that increasing the sound propagation path within the perforated plate effectively shifts the sound absorption frequency to lower values.Further-more,a particle swarm optimization algorithm is proposed to achieve a broadband sound absorption design for this ab-sorber,enabling efficient sound absorption in the frequency range of 600 Hz to 1 000 Hz,with an average sound absorp-tion coefficient of 0.897.
