Abstract

Objective To systematically investigate the cur-rent status of research participation,research translation ef-fectiveness,and influencing factors among faculty at health vocational colleges,to reveal the structural associations be-tween research activities and individual characteristics,and to propose optimization strategies.Methods A question-naire survey was conducted across 32 health vocational col-leges in 27 provinces of China,yielding 247 valid respons-es.Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0,applying descrip-tive statistics,cross-tabulation,and chi-square tests to ex-amine influencing factors across different dimensions.Re-sultsFindings indicate that faculty engagement in research is relatively high,with nearly half having undertaken 1-5 projects in the past three years.However,the research trans-lation rate was less than 20%,reflecting a"high participa-tion but low translation"paradox.Research output in-creased progressively with age and academic rank,with fac-ulty aged 31-40 years and those holding mid-to senior-lev-el titles forming the core research force.Project sources were mainly institutional and municipal-level,while provin-cial and national-level projects were less common.Signifi-cant differences were observed in perceived research diffi-culty by educational attainment,with doctoral faculty showing a polarized distribution.Research translation was significantly influenced by rank and degree,with junior and mid-level faculty achieving higher translation rates than senior faculty,while translation rates among bachelor's,master's,and doctoral groups remained low.Conclusions:It is recommended to optimize the research ecosystem by establishing tiered support systems,expanding access to high-level projects,improving incentive mechanisms for re-search translation,and enhancing faculty research self-effi-cacy,thereby strengthening innovation capacity and improv-ing translation performance in health vocational colleges.
