Abstract

Taking the base-isolated structures using lead rubber bearing(LRB)as the research object,this study investigated the applicability of the seismic influence coefficient curve specified in GB/T 51408-2021'Standard for seismic isolation design of building'in the integrated design of nonlinear base-isolated structures with supplemental viscous damping.Results from the equivalent linearization-based response spectrum analysis indicate that the seismic influence coefficient curve in the GB/T 51408-2021 exhibits an unreasonable phenomenon where displacement responses increase with damping ratios in the long-period range and when damping ratios exceed 0.31.Moreover,there exists a deviation between the displacements of the isolated structure derived from response spectrum analysis and those from time-history analysis.To address these shortcomings,a parametric analysis was conducted to compare the damping adjustment coefficients and attenuation exponents adopted in the seismic influence coefficient curves of different design codes.Based on the analysis results,it is be suggested that the seismic influence coefficient curve in GB/T 51408-2021 should adopt 0.9 as the attenuation exponent along with a revised expression to reduce damping modification coefficients when the total structural damping ratio exceeds 0.31.Design examples conducted under various seismic fortification intensities demonstrate that the proposed revision can effectively overcome the unreasonable phenomenon existing in the current seismic isolation design response spectrum within the high damping ratio region,and reduce base-isolated structure displacement discrepancies between response spectrum analysis and time-history analysis to within 20%.
