Abstract
To address the low thermal efficiency of a heavy-duty spark-ignition methanol engine with an ω-type combustion chamber,an optimization study was conducted based on a 13 L methanol engine.The combustion system was redesigned by replacing the ω-type chamber with a pent-roof configuration,converting the helical swirl intake port to a high-tumble flow design,and modifying the piston crown accordingly.Additional enhancements included redesigning the cam profile,cooling water jacket,intake/exhaust systems,and matching a dedicated turbocharger based on methanol fuel characteristics.The optimized design was validated using CAE analysis.Results demonstrated that the brake thermal efficiency improved from 42.0%to 50.2%,achieving an 8.2-percentage-point increase with a relative improvement of 19.5%.关键词
