Abstract

Aiming at problems of present filling material of cotton core warm quilts was prone to pile up and deform in use,a scheme of pure cotton quilt fabric based on direct interweaving cotton roving was proposed.In order to improve cotton roving strength and adapt to the fast weaving process,cotton spun yarn was used to wrap the roving.By changing yarn wrapping twist,roving weight per unit and fabric weft density,the changes in wrapped yarn breaking strength and the fabric warmth retention,air permeability,abrasion resistance and washability were explored.The results showed that breaking strength of the wrapped yarn was affected by the roving weight per unit and the wrapping twist.As the increase of roving weight per unit and fabric weft density,air permeability of the fabric showed a downward trend,thermal resistance showed an upward trend.The wrapping twist had a relatively smaller effect on air permeability and warmth retention of the fabric.For the development of summer quilts,the more suitable option were core fabrics with roving weight per unit of 4 g/10 m,wrapping twist of 12 twists/10 cm,and weft density of 55 yarns/10 cm.For the development of winter quilts,the more suitable option were core fabrics with roving weight per unit of 10 g/10 m,wrapping twist of 6 twists/10 cm,and weft density of 55 yarns/10 cm.
