Summary of Best Evidence for Prevention and Management of Urinary Retention After Vaginal Delivery

Abstract
Objective To summarize Chinese and foreign evidence on the prevention and management of urinary retention after vaginal delivery,aiming to provide the best evidence-based reference for relevant clinical interventions.Methods The PIPOST model was used to construct evidence-based questions.Based on the"6S"Hierarchy of Evidence-Based Resources,evidence on the prevention and management of urinary retention after vaginal delivery was systematically searched from clinical guidelines,expert consensuses,summaries of evidence,systematic reviews and original studies in Chinese and foreign guidelines,professional society websites and databases from their establishment to August 31,2024.Two investigators systematically trained in evidence-based knowledge conducted literature screening,quality assessment,and evidence extraction and integration.Results A total of 17 articles were included,comprising 1 clinical decision,3 guidelines,1 expert consensus,6 systematic reviews and 6 original studies.Ultimately,35 pieces of evidence were generated across 5 aspects:risk assessment,preventive measures,management measures,health education,and referral and follow-up.Conclusion The best evidence for the prevention and management of urinary retention after vaginal delivery,summarized in this study,is scientifically sound and practical.Clinicians may develop personalized postpartum urinary retention management plans for patients by integrating the evidence with their individual conditions and needs,thereby reducing the incidence of postpartum urinary retention.关键词
