Abstract

The study evaluates the effectiveness of Fiber Reinforced Polymer(FRP)jacketing in enhancing the seismic performance of Reinforced Concrete(RC)frame columns,providing for the seismic reinforcement design in similar engineering projects.Using SeismoStruct finite element software,four RC frame structure models were established,and FRP wrapping was applied to the columns for reinforcement.The dynamic responses and static bearing capacities of the structures before and after reinforcement were compared.The results indicate that FRP reinforcement can effectively reduce the peak acceleration and inter-story displacement of the structure under seismic loading and has a positive impact on controlling torsional effects.However,it does not significantly alter the fundamental period of the structure,and its suppression effect on the maximum shear force at each story is limited.The lateral resistance of the structure is significantly improved after reinforcement:the lateral force required to reach the same target displacement increased by 10%to 60%compared to the unreinforced case,and the ultimate bearing capacity was also significantly enhanced.FRP reinforcement the structure to withstand greater lateral displacement and loading before the initial cracking of the concrete,and significantly improved both the ductility and energy dissipation capacity of the structure.
