Abstract

The failure mode and parameter analysis of prestressed concrete(PSC)containment under projectile impact can provide a reference for its impact-resistant design and safety assessment.This paper selects the prestressed concrete containment of Unit 3 of the Crystal River Nuclear Power Plant as the research subject.Finite element modeling and numerical simulation methods are used to systematically investigate the influence of key parameters such as projectile size,projectile mass,initial velocity and impact angle on the failure mode of the prestressed concrete containment.The results indicate that projectile size,projectile mass,initial velocity and impact angle significantly influence the failure mode of the PSC containment.Large-sized projectiles induce extensive overall damage to the nuclear containment;the increase in projectile mass and initial velocity leads to a marked rise in the impact force peak and the projectile's destructive capacity,with the damage mode evolves from local surface damage to penetrating damage;the impact angle substantially affects the damage characteristics,and vertical impact causes more severe damage to the containment than oblique impact.
