Key technologies and field application for CO2 leakage monitoring in CCUS-EOR Project of Yanchang Petroleum

Abstract
The Ordos Basin is rich in oil,gas and coal resources,and CCUS-EOR can realize oil displacement and in-site CO2 transformation and utilization.Regarding the strong heterogeneity and developed natural fractures in the extra-low permeability oil reservoirs in the Ordos Basin,however,CO2 leakage monitoring is necessary for the timely discovery of leakage and potential risks,which is of great and practical significance to ensure the safety of CCUS-EOR,the effectiveness of storage,and the accurate calculation of carbon storage volume.Taking domestic first whole-process integrated CCUS-EOR demonstration engineering built by Yanchang Petroleum as an research object,this paper develops a"underground-ground-aboveground"trinity leakage monitoring system involving CO2 migration,caprock integrity and leakage environmental monitoring,and the key technologies,based on the geographical characteristics of loess plateau and the actual situations of oilfield development engineering,which has achieved a good field application effect,The following results are obtained.First,the time-lapse VSP monitoring technology is developed by optimizing the seismic data acquisition and observation system and processing process.It has been successfully applied to CO2 migration monitoring of the CCUS-EOR Project at home for the first time,which has clarified the underground migration range of CO2,proved the effectiveness of CO2 storage,and solved the problem of limited accuracy of conventional geophysical monitoring technology in the loess plateau.Second,microseismic monitoring equipment and data processing algorithm are developed.They have proved that CO2 injection only influences Chang 6 reservoir without damaging the integrity of Chang 4+5 caprocks,and have solved the difficulty in caprock integrity evaluation in the process of CO2 flooding.Third,the monitoring network is optimized by simulating the migration and transformation of CO2 in shallow groundwater and soil,and an"atmosphere-soil-groundwater"environmental monitoring system is constructed.And combined with the injection and production dynamic risk modeling,a CO2 leakage prewarning system is developed,which has been applied in Huaziping demonstration engineering continuously for four years.Thanks to this system,no leakage accident has happened so far.In conclusion,this"underground-ground-aboveground"trinity CO2 leakage monitoring technology system effectively solves the difficulties in CO2 storage and monitoring in the area of loess plateau,and provides technical demonstration and reference for the implementation of similar domestic projects.关键词
