Abstract

By virtue of physical screening,ultrafiltration membrane process can effectively remove a variety of pollutants in water and significantly improve the effluent quality,but some factors restrict its wide application.In order to optimize the control of ultrafiltration membrane fouling,three pretreatment processes of Deposition-Ultrafiltration(DU),Deposition-Sand filtration-Ultrafiltration(DSU)and Deposition-Carbon filtration-Ultrafiltration(DCU)are compared.The pollution characteristics are analyzed by monitoring Transmembrane Pressure(TMP),and combining with Scanning Electron Microscope(SEM)and Three-Dimensional Excitation-Emission Matrix(3D-EEM).The results show that the growth of TMP of DSU process is the slowest,which is significantly better than that of DU and DCU.SEM images show that DSU membrane has the least surface contaminants,while DCU membrane has activated carbon residue.3D-EEM analysis show that DCU has the best removal effect on organic pollutants,but the membrane fouling inhibition ability of DSU is better in the long-term operation.As a membrane pretreatment method,sand filtration can effectively alleviate ultrafiltration membrane pollution and provide a basis for the process selection of water plants.
