Fault Diagnosis Method for Variable Speed Gearboxes Based on Instantaneous Frequency Estimation

Abstract
An instantaneous frequency estimation method of polynomial phase signal based on extended Kalman filter(EKF)was proposed and applied to fault diagnosis of planetary gearboxes.Unlike the traditional methods based on phase differentiation or time-frequency representation,the polynomial phase signal was regarded as a state-space model,and its state vector is composed of the polynomial phase coefficient of the signal.Therefore,the tracking of the local polynomial phase coefficient was transformed into the process of solving the state space model.In order to track the instantaneous phase,the state space model was solved by EKF.Then,the results were improved by using polynomial regression and O'Shea refinement strategy.At last,in order to realize fault diagnosis of planetary gearboxes with variable speed,the instantaneous phase obtained from fault signal was resampled in angle domain and the order analysis was carried out.The simulation results show that the proposed method can accurately extract the instantaneous frequency and has good anti-noise performance.The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by the fault simulation experiment of the planetary gearbox.关键词
