Abstract
OBJECTIVE To observe the effect of Shashen Maidong Decoction on tear secretion and tear protein content in patients with dry eye.METHODS A total of 120 patients(120 eyes)with dry eye diagnosed and treated in Beijing Jiangong Hospital from August 2019 to August 2023,who were of Qi-Yin deficiency syndrome,were included,and the right eyes were all enrolled.They were randomly divided into the control group(CG)and the experimental group(EG),with 60 cases(60 eyes)in each group.The control group was treated with 0.1%sodium hyaluronate eye drops.The experimental group took Shashen Maidong Decoction orally on the basis of the treatment of the control group.Both groups were observed for two months.The tear film break-up time(BUT),Schirmer I test(SⅠT),corneal fluorescein staining(FL)score,and the levels of lactoferrin(LF),matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2),and epidermal growth factor(EGF)of the subjects were detected before and after treatment respectively.RESULTS(1)Dry eye indicators:When compared before and after treatment,the BUT and SⅠT of both groups were prolonged after treatment,and the FL scores were decreased compared with those before treatment,and the differences were statistically significant(BUT:tEG=14.036,tCG=8.406,both P=0.000;SⅠT:tEG=21.353,tCG=13.931,both P=0.000;FL:tEG=14.305,tCG=6.830,both P=0.000).After treatment,when compared between the two groups,the BUT and SⅠT of the experimental group were longer than those of the control group,and the FL scores were lower than those of the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(tBUT=5.804,tSⅠT=18.025,tFL=11.773,all P=0.000).(2)Tear protein levels:When compared before and after treatment,the levels of LF and EGF in both groups were increased after treatment,and the level of MMP-2 was decreased compared with that before treatment,and the differences were statistically significant(LF:tEG=12.466,tCG=5.495,both P=0.000;EGF:tEG=35.516,tCG=15.730,both P=0.000;MMP-2:tEG=20.735,tCG=10.562,both P=0.000).After treatment,when compared between the two groups,the levels of LF and EGF in the experimental group were higher than those in the control group,and the level of MMP-2 was lower than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(tLF=5.411,tEGF=17.313,tMMP-2=12.709,all P=0.000).(3)Clinical efficacy:The total effective rate of the control group(71.67%)was lower than that of the experimental group(90.00%),and the difference was statistically significant(χ2=6.508,P=0.011).CONCLUSIONS For patients with dry eye,the combination of Shashen Maidong Decoction and sodium hyaluronate eye drops can significantly relieve clinical symptoms,improve the function of the ocular surface,slow down the BUT,improve the stability of the tear film,and has good safety,which is worthy of clinical application.关键词
