Advances in Salinity Tolerance Mechanisms and Breeding Strategies in Soybean

Abstract
The total area of saline-alkaline soils in China is approximately 9.15 × 107 ha,accounting for 4.88%of the country's utilizable land area.Due to the annual decrease in arable land area and the increasing trend of soil salinization-alkalization,the development and utilization of saline-alkaline land have become particularly crucial.Research on soybean saline-alkaline tolerance focuses on deeply analyzing the physiological mechanisms and genetic characteristics of soybean growth in saline-alkaline soils and exploring effective improvement strategies.The current breeding technology system for saline-alkaline tolerant soybeans is centered on a core strategy of simultaneously advancing conventional breeding and molecular breeding,aiming to create high-quality germplasm resources adapted to saline-alkaline habitats.Facing the urgent need for saline-alkaline land development and utilization,establishing an efficient paradigm for breeding saline-alkaline tolerant soybean varieties has become a key breakthrough point in ensuring the productivity of marginal farmland.Elucidating the molecular regulatory pathways and phenotypic plasticity mechanisms underlying soybean responses to salt stress holds significant scientific value and practical importance for establishing targeted saline-tolerance regulation technologies and safeguarding soybean production security.This review summarizes recent research advances regarding the impact of saline-alkaline soils on soybeans and the biological mechanisms of saline-alkaline tolerance in soybeans.It covers the classification of saline-alkaline soils,their detrimental effects on crops,and soybean response mechanisms.It comprehensively discusses the mechanisms by which soybeans adapt to saline-alkaline stress,as well as strategies for saline-alkaline tolerant breeding.It highlights the importance of understanding the physiological and response mechanisms of soybean saline-alkaline tolerance for their breeding.关键词
