Research on the Application of Submerged Arc Deep Penetration Weld-ing Technology for High-Efficiency and Low-Carbon Manufacturing of Rail Transit Equipment

Abstract
In order to promote efficient and low-carbon manufacturing of railway equipment,this study focuses on the sub-merged arc deep penetration welding technology.Using the commonly used 12 mm thick S355J2W+N weathering steel for railway equipment as the subject,we conducted welding process tests,performance inspections,and multi-technology com-parative analyses.The purpose is to systematically investigate the welding joint performance and welding efficiency,and to evaluate its applicability in the industry through engineering applications.The test results show that the submerged arc deep penetration welding technology can achieve a single-pass welding formation for the 12 mm thick S355J2W+N weathering steel butt joint.The welding heat input is only 2.375 kJ/mm,which is comparable to laser-arc hybrid welding(2.32 kJ/mm)and double wire welding(2.4 kJ/mm),and a reduction of 36%compared to conventional gas metal arc welding(3.71 kJ/mm).The maximum deformation is 0.595 mm,less than the 2.79 mm of conventional gas metal arc welding;the maximum residual stress in the X-direction is 320 MPa,which is 160 MPa lower than that of conventional gas metal arc welding(490 MPa),and the Y-direction residual stress is more than 100 MPa lower than that of conventional gas metal arc welding in the area 15~25 mm away from the weld centerline.The joint tensile properties,bending properties,-40℃impact test,hardness test results,and macro-metallographic quality all meet the corresponding standard requirements,but the welding heat input should be strictly controlled to ensure low-temperature toughness.Efficiency comparison shows that the submerged arc deep penetration welding time is only 86 s,which is 41%shorter than double wire welding(145.7 s),38%shorter than laser-arc hybrid welding(139.42 s),and 79%shorter than conventional gas metal arc welding(402.1 s).The total energy consumption during the processing process is reduced by 38.4%compared to conventional gas metal arc welding,which is comparable to laser-arc hybrid welding;the welding carbon emission is 0.976 kg,which is reduced by 81.7%compared to conventional gas metal arc welding.In engineering applications,this technology saves 37.33%of man-hours and reduces 9.279%of welding carbon emissions compared to conventional gas metal arc welding when used for bogie frame welding.After comprehensive evaluation,the submerged arc deep penetration welding technology has reliable quality,obvious comprehensive advantages of low-carbon,energy-saving,and efficient manufacturing in the welding of thick plate components of railway equipment,and has feasibility and high promotion value in the railway equipment industry.关键词
