Abstract

The delamination of composite laminates is a critical factor leading to structural failure in wind turbine blades.This study establishes a three-dimensional double cantilever beam(DCB)model for pure Mode I delamination in unidirectional composite panels based on cohesive zone theory.Numerical simulations are conducted to investigate the tensile and compressive responses of delaminated main spar panels under various delamination parameter settings.Under combined bending and shear loading conditions,a damage prediction analysis is performed on the unidirectional composite laminates with delamination,examining the evolution of delamination and its impact on the ultimate strength and failure modes of the main spar panels.Furthermore,a full-scale blade model incorporating delaminated spars is developed to analyze how variations in spar thickness affect delamination evolution and failure modes.The results demonstrate that both delamination length and position are key determinants of the peak load and damage initiation load,while differences in spar thickness govern whether local or global buckling occurs.
