Traditional Chinese Medicine Syndrome Characteristics of Epilepsy Comorbid with Depression

Abstract
Objective To explore the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome characteristics of epilepsy comorbid with depression.Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted to collect general information and scores from TCM symptom scales of 130 patients with epilepsy comorbid with depression who visited the hospital from December 2015 to December 2017.Data mining based on association rules was used to model and analyze the TCM symptoms.Results Association rule analysis showed that the core symptoms of epilepsy comorbid with depression include low mood,decreased interest,excessive worry and anxiety,irritability,sadness and hopelessness,inability to concentrate,mental fatigue and weakness,and difficulty falling asleep.The five TCM syndromes of epilepsy comorbid with depression are liver depression transforming into fire syndrome,kidney deficiency with liver depression syndrome,liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome,gallbladder depression with phlegm disturbance syndrome,and heart-spleen deficiency syndrome.Conclusion Liver depression transforming into fire syndrome,kidney deficiency with liver depression syndrome,liver depression and spleen deficiency syndrome,gallbladder depression with phlegm disturbance syndrome,and heart-spleen deficiency syndrome are common TCM syndromes of epilepsy comorbid with depression.Among the location factors of epilepsy comorbid with depression,the liver is the most closely related,involving the spleen,heart,kidney and gallbladder;among the nature factors of the disease,qi stagnation is the most prominent,accompanied by qi deficiency,blood deficiency,essence deficiency,phlegm and fire.关键词
