Abstract
To improve the accuracy of bit error performance analysis in wireless optical communication systems based on Geiger-mode avalanche photodiode(GM-APD)arrays,an improved bit error rate(BER)model integrating count rate con-straints and multi-carrier single-count mechanisms is proposed.The BER expression is derived based on the binomial distribu-tion.Simulation and experimental validation results demonstrate that the improved BER model significantly outperforms the conventional Poisson model under high background light conditions and aligns more closely with actual system behavior.When the array size exceeds 20 and background noise is lower than the signal power,the system achieves a BER on the order of 10⁻³ with low complexity.Combined with error-correcting codes,receiver sensitivity can be enhanced by 5~8 dB.关键词
