摘要
Abstract
Objective:The long and complex caregiving demands for children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD)place parents under sustained psychological stress far greater than that of the general population. This study aims to investigate the current status and formation pathway of parental burnout in parents of children with ASD,and to analyze the mechanisms by which affiliate stigma,self-esteem,and coparenting influence the development of parental burnout, thereby providing a theoretical basis for precise mental health interventions.
Methods:Parents of children with ASD who met inclusion criteria were recruited on a voluntary basis and surveyed.Participants completed the Affiliate Stigma Scale(ASS),Self-Esteem Scale(SES),Parental Burnout Assessment(PBA),and Coparenting Relationship Scale(CRS).Factors influencing PBA scores were analyzed.Pearson correlation coefficients were used to evaluate correlations among ASS,SES,PBA,and CRS scores.Multiple linear regression analysis was performed with PBA score as the dependent variable and variables with statistically significant associations as independent variables.A mediation model was tested using the Bootstrap method with 5 000 resamples, with ASS as the independent variable,SES and CRS as mediators, and PBA as the dependent variable.
Results:A total of 785 questionnaires were distributed, and 726 valid responses were collected, yielding an effective response rate of 92.48%.Parent gender, age, education level, monthly household income, age of children, and symptom severity all significantly affected PBA scores(all P<0.01).Pearson correlation analysis revealed significant associations among affiliate stigma,self-esteem,coparenting,and parental burnout.Affiliate stigma was negatively correlated with self-esteem and coparenting, but positively correlated with parental burnout(all P<0.01).Multiple linear regression indicated gender, education level, monthly household income, affiliate stigma, and coparenting as the main influencing factors of parental burnout(all P<0.01).Mediation analysis indicated that coparenting partially mediated the relationship between affiliate stigma and parental burnout, with an effect size of 22.06%.The independent mediating effect of self-esteem was not significant;however,self-esteem and coparenting together formed a chain mediation pathway between affiliate stigma and parental burnout, with an effect size of 4.12%.
Conclusion:Parents of children with ASD exhibited high levels of parental burnout, which were broadly influenced by affiliate stigma.Affiliate stigma not only directly exacerbated parental burnout but also indirectly aggravated it by reducing self-esteem and weakening coparenting quality.Clinical practitioners can help alleviate parental burnout by reducing affiliate stigma, enhancing self-esteem,and fostering positive coparenting models.关键词
