Development of an early multisensory stimulation program for hospitalized premature infants based on evidence-based and Delphi methodology

Abstract
Objective:To develop an early multisensory stimulation program for hospitalized premature infants.Methods:The relevant literature on multisensory stimulation intervention for premature infants was retrieved from various Chinese and English databases by computer.The quality of the included literature was evaluated and the content was extracted.After discussion by the research group,the initial draft of the early multisensory stimulation plan for hospitalized premature infants was formed,and the Delphi method was used to verify and revise it.Results:A total of 12 articles were included,including 11 randomized controlled trials(RCTs)and 1 quasi-experimental study.The response rate for both rounds of expert inquiries was 100%.The basis for experts'judgment on the questionnaire was 0.89,the familiarity level was 0.84,and the expert authority coefficient was 0.865.In the second round of expert consultation,the coefficient of variation for item importance scores ranged from 0 to 0.22,and the Kendall concordance coefficient was 0.370(χ²=281.007,P<0.001).The coefficient of variation for feasibility scores ranged from 0.06 to 0.24,and the Kendall concordance coefficient was 0.361(χ²=274.088,P<0.001).The final early multisensory stimulation protocol for hospitalized premature infants included 2 first-level items,9 second-level items,and 22 third-level items.Conclusion:This study developed an early multisensory stimulation protocol for hospitalized premature infants with rigorous and scientifically sound procedures,which could provide reference for clinical staff in implementing early intervention for hospitalized premature infants.关键词
