Application of Genetic Algorithms in Balancing Oil Pipe Head Production Lines
摘要
Abstract
To address the balancing issues in N companys oil pipe head production line,a detailed analysis of the workflow processes for each operation is conducted. The stopwatch timing method is used to measure time, and the bottleneck workstations along with their load capacities are preliminarily identified.A mathematical model is constructed with the objectives of minimizing the number of workstations and reducing the variance of the smoothing index. For this NP-hard problem,an improved genetic algorithm is designed, and is implemented using C language, with weighted considerations of the number of workstations and the variance of the balancing index,as well as an elite retention strategy, adaptive crossover, and mutation probability incorporated. The results show that under the same cycle time constraints, the number of workstations is reduced from 16 to 12 by the improved genetic algorithm, and the production line smoothing index is decreased to 1.9,which significantly improves load balancing.Without any equipment investment, the production line balancing rate is increased from 69%to 88%,a 28%increase.To further validate the robustness of critical workstations,a simulation model is established using Arena, with three critical workstations milling, drilling, and turning incorporated. The simulation results show that the utilization rates of all three workstations are remained within the acceptable range of 85%to 91%,with no instances of overload or underutilization observed, which indicates stable operation. This demonstrates that the balancing challenges of N companys oil pipe head production line are effectively resolved by the genetic algorithm.关键词
