From"Hospital Nanny"to"Care Expert":The Professionalization Process of Medical Caregivers

Abstract
Nursing work is an important component of the healthcare sector.As the"nerve endings"of the medical and health service system,medical caregivers connect medical institutions and patients'families,undertaking a host of important functions.The service providers of inpatient care services have undergone an identity evolution-from in-hospital nannies to hospital orderlies,and then to medical caregivers-corresponding to three stages:marketization,professionalization,and occupationalization.The true significance of understanding and examining this development process lies in clarifying the historical origins and current bottlenecks of China's inpatient care services at the present stage,as well as reflecting on the occupational doubts and development constraints faced by medical caregivers.In the face of prominent issues such as unclear occupational boundaries,low social status,and limited career advancement in the current professionalization process of medical caregivers,measures should be taken to clarify work scopes,reshape professional identities,and establish incentive mechanisms.These efforts aim to promote the identity transformation of medical caregivers from"marginal assistants"to"care specialists".关键词
