Abstract

A subgrade vibration compaction model with real particle shape and gradation was established by using the discrete element method.This paper analyzed the evolution law of the dry density of the filler with the fractal dimension D and the maximum particle size dmax,and discussed the influence of gradation on the movement and contact characteristics of particles in the compaction process.The result shows that,when D is 2.50 and dmax is 40 mm,the dry density of the filler is the largest.The vertical displacement of the particles is the main reason for the compactness of the filler.D and dmax mainly affect the vertical displacement of the particles by changing the pore structure of the filler,which in turn affects the compactness of the filler.The gradation will significantly affect the internal structure of the filler.With the increase of D,the proportion of fine-fine contact increases,and the fine particles gradually participate in the contact force transfer inside the filler and play a leading role.The filler can form a stable structure with smaller internal contact force and more uniform direction distribution.
