Abstract
Taking the silty clay from a certain region as the research object,a triaxial compression test was carried out on the soil samples using the TSZ fully automatic triaxial loading system to investigate the mechanical properties of the silty clay under different water contents and different enclosing pressures.The result shows that,the strength of silty clay at 15.0%and 16.1%water content is 64.4%and 42.6%of that at 8.2%natural water content,respectively.The sensitivity of cohesion to water content is much higher than that of internal friction angle.For every 100 kPa increase in confining pressure,the strength of silty clay increases by about 190 kPa,and the influence of confining pressure on the maximum principal stress and maximum strain values at each stage are gradually increasing.The weakening of capillary water,the enhancement of lubrication effect,the loosening of particle arrangement and the alteration of microstructure are the main influencing mechanisms of water content,while the increase of contact stress between particles,the enhancement of inter-particle friction and adhesion,and the compression and closure of internal pores,which increase the density of the soil body,are the main influencing mechanisms of the confining pressure.关键词
