Abstract
This study compared the whitening and barrier-protective effects of various ingredients.An A375(human melanoma)and HaCaT(human keratinocyte)co-culture model was established to simulate the epidermal melanin unit and to assess the impact of different ingredients on melanin content and the expression of barrier proteins,Filaggrin(FLG)and Loricrin(LOR).Results showed that chemical whitening agents such as hydroquinone and phenylethyl resorcinol,exhibited significant melanin-inhibitory effects at low concentrations but tended to downregulate FLG and LOR expression.In contrast,niacinamide and tranexamic acid demonstrated both melanin inhibition and upregulation of barrier proteins.Notably,Panax notoginseng total saponins displayed good safety,strongly inhibited melanin production,and upregulated FLG expression by 96.74%,outperforming niacinamide and tranexamic acid.These results highlight the dual efficacy of Panax notoginseng total saponins in skin whitening and barrier repair,emphasizing the multi-target regulatory potential of plant-based ingredients and offering a promising strategy for developing scientifically effective and skin-friendly whitening products.关键词
