Aesthetic Education Which Challenges the Order:A Commentary on Jacques Rancière's Theory of Equal Education

摘要

Abstract

Rancière is committed to challenging both the binary view of human nature and the hegemonic discourse that governs the proletariat by critiquing existing political philosophy.Through historical and aesthetic research,he offers a unique definition of"liberation"and"equality",grounded in a materialist worldview composed of an equal mind and sensory materials.On this foundation,equal education emerges as an aesthetic education,which requires learners to spend their spare time transcending social barriers,grasping sensory materials,exercising their own rationality,and participating in aesthetic practices that disrupt the increasingly rigid social order.Correspondingly,equal teaching calls for teachers and learners to engage in poetic dialogue and for teachers to create the conditions conducive to educational opportunities.Rancière's concept of equal education thus represents a form of aesthetic education that challenges the social order.
