Abstract

Vacuum circuit breakers(VCBs),utilizing vacuum arc extinguishing technology,possess excellent arc quenching performance and are key equipment for ensuring the stable opera-tion of power systems.VCBs operate inside high-voltage switchgear and are usually only withdrawn for inspection during power outage maintenance,making it difficult to fully grasp their condition.The problem of decreasing vacuum level in the arc extinguishing chamber is particularly easy to over-look and can easily lead to major failures.To solve this problem,based on 10 years of operational ex-perience from a company and through two typical failure cases,the article analyzes the causes of vacuum level degradation in VCB arc chambers.Combined with the key points of daily maintenance for VCB arc chambers,effective preventive and corrective measures such as temperature detection,partial discharge detection,and withstand voltage tests are proposed,aiming to reduce the risk of similar failures recurring.
