Abstract
In order to investigate the status of production management,biosafety and slaughter inspection in sheep slaughter facilities,questionnaires were distributed to 285 facilities across 29 provinces using a cross-sectional method.The results showed that most facilities were designed with annual capacity ranging from 10 000 to 100 000 sheep,and overall capacity utilization rate of 31.76％.The qualification rate of the construction of biosafety management systems was 87.02％,and that of the preservation of biosafety management records was 45.61％,both of which were superior on large slaughterhouses compared to slaughter sites(x2=7.31,P＜0.01;x2=4.92,P＜0.05).66.32％(189)facilities were capable of timely disinfecting slaughter tools,workshops,premises and personal protective supplies,disinfection passages and accessibility to disinfection facilities were superior on large and medium slaughterhouses compared to those on small slaughterhouses and slaughter sites(x2=4.16,P＜0.05;x2=4.98,P＜0.05);most facilities were lack of inspection staff,of which 66.67％(190)were assigned with two or fewer on-site official veterinarians,and 15.09％(43)were inspected for above 50 000 sheep by each official veterinarians on average in 2023.In conclusion,the facilities were at low level of capacity utilization rate,in particular,small slaughterhouses and slaughter sites where the overall hygiene conditions were poor,and the biosafety management,disinfection practices and slaughter inspection and quarantine were significantly lower than those of large and medium slaughterhouses.Therefore,continuous efforts should be made by advancing designated sheep slaughtering,strengthening hygiene supervision on slaughterhouses and improving quarantine capabilities,etc..关键词
