Abstract

In order to investigate the predominant serotypes and antimicrobial resistance(AMR)of avian-derived Pasteurella multocida in Zhejiang Province,51 strains of Pasteurella multocida isolated from poultry farms from 2018 to 2023 were systematically analyzed.Capsular serotype,lipopolysaccharide serotype,capsular polysaccharide content,virulence factors and AMR profile of the strains were detected using the methods including plate streaking,PCR assay,ethanol precipitation,phenol-sulfuric acid assay and Kirby-Bauer disk diffusion(K-B).The results showed that all isolates fell into capsular serotype A and lipopolysaccharide serotype L1,with significant differences in capsular polysaccharide content(P<0.05).It was found that,for 10 virulence genes,the detection rate was 100%other than toxA,nanH and tbpA that were absent;AMR analysis revealed that 25 strains were highly susceptible to 11 antibiotics including ampicillin,doxycycline and amoxicillin,but strongly resistant to tetracycline,kanamycin,co-trimoxazole and penicillin,including 15(60%)with multidrug resistance.In conclusion,capsular serotype A and lipopolysaccharide serotype L1 were predominate in the province,with high proportion of multidrug-resistant strains.Clinical prevention and control of avian-derived Pasteurella multocida infection was supported by the data obtained in the study.
