Trend and innovation development in the research field of wheat breeding based on patent analysis

摘要

Abstract

To systematically reveal the technological innovation dynamics and development trend in the research field of wheat breeding,based on wheat breeding patent data in global from 1939 to 2024,patentometrics and cluster analysis were used to explore the application trend,regional layout,institutional competition,key technology layout,and innovation development direction.The results showed that:1)In terms of application trend,wheat breeding technology has experienced four-stage evolution(early germination,rapid development,fluctuating adjustment,steady development)reflecting a shift from centralized breakthrough to platform-based evolution in technological innovation.2)In terms of regions and institutions,China has a large number of patents,but it remains relatively lagging in international layout and high-value patents,with insufficient corporate participation.3)In the key technology areas,mutation or genetic engineering and angiosperms characterised otherwise than by their botanic taxonomy are critical technological fields.China lacks competitiveness in seeds technology,enzymes and their compositions,as well as in undifferentiated human,animal or plant cells technology.4)The efficient and precise design of molecular detection,the collaborative improvement of high-quality,high-yield and stress-resistant traits,the smart design systems and Al-powered breeding,and the intellectual property layout and protection strategy are the future directions for innovation development.5)In terms of industrialization,'ND753'has successfully penetrated the market through full industry-chain cooperation and flexible promotion models,highlighting the importance of technological innovation and industrial collaboration.In the future,the dual protection mechanism of"patent plus variety rights"should be further improved,the"enterprise-led plus scientific research support"model should be promoted,and the"Al plus multi-breeding"approach should be integrated to advance wheat germplasm innovation and variety industrialization,thus enhancing China's core competitiveness in global seed industry technology innovation.
