Risk factors and comprehensive prevention,control,and elimination strategies for toxoplasmosis in pig farms

Abstract
As a global zoonotic parasitic disease,Toxoplasma gondii has significantly increased the miscarriage rate of infected sows and the acute mortality rate of piglets.It also poses a threat to human health through foodborne routes.Effective prevention and control have dual strategic significance for ensuring the sustainable development of the pig industry and public health safety.This article systematically reviews the factors contributing to the outbreak and prevalence of toxoplasmosis in pig farms both domestically and internationally.It is found that the main transmission routes of toxoplasmosis in pig farms include contamination of the environment with oocysts in cat feces,persistent vertical transmission,and mechanical transmission through mouse/bird vectors.Based on its transmission chain and the animal epidemic prevention policy and requirements of"prevention and elimination",further analyze and summarize the comprehensive prevention and elimination ideas of toxoplasmosis in modern pig farms,and propose a three in one biological safety prevention and control system and elimination plan of"detection grading barrier".Firstly,establish a precise mechanism to target or grade drugs for serological and pathogen positive pigs,and cooperate with regular environmental disfection and empty field treatment to achieve elimination of T.gondii positive pigs.Secondly,establish a biosafety barrier such as a cat,mouse and bird repellent system,as well as ventilation and filtration inside the house,combined with closed-loop storage and transportation of feed and water source elimination to prevent cross contamination;Simultaneously integrating a three-dimensional linkage mechanism of environmental control,pathogen host management,and personnel supervision to achieve a feasible and cost-effective elimination strategy.The comprehensive prevention and control and elimination operation procedures developed in this paper will provide a technical paradigm for creating"Toxoplasma free certified pig farms"to prevent and control public health risks of foodborne toxoplasmosis from the industry source.关键词
