Abstract
Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of timolol maleate eye drops in the treatment of infantile hemangioma.Methods A total of 86 infant patients with hemangioma who were admitted to Luoyang Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital from June 2023 to December 2024 were selected.They were divided into the observation group and the control group according to the treatment methods.The observation group was treated with 0.5%timolol maleate eye drops soaked in sterile gauze and applied externally to the lesion,the control group was treated conservatively with Vaseline externally.After 6 months of treatment,the volume changes and color changes of hemangiomas,the levels of serum MMP-9 as matrix metalloproteinase,CXCL chemokine 12,vascular endothelial growth factor,angiotensin,hemangioma activity,the score of the Chinese version of the Infantile Hemangioma-specific Quality of Life Questionnaire and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups of children.Results After treatment,the volume reduction rate and color improvement score of hemangioma in the observation group were higher(P<0.05).Serum matrix metalloproteinase-9,CXCL chemokine 12,vascular endothelial growth factor and angiotensin Ⅱ levels in both groups decreased(P<0.05),and observation group were lower(P<0.05).Vascular activity scores and quality of life scores of both groups decreased,and observation group were lower(P<0.05).There were no serious adverse reactions in both group.Conclusions Timolol maleate eye drops have a remarkable therapeutic effect on infantile hemangioma when applied externally.They can improve serum-related factors,enhance the quality of life,and have good safety.关键词
