Effects of Substrate Transition on Methane Producing Rate of Fixed-bed Anaerobic Reactors

Abstract
This experiment studied the effect of material replacement on the methane production efficiency of fixed bed re-actors,in order to reveal the operating rules of anaerobic digestion systems,optimize operating parameters,and improve process level;The experiment is divided into three stages:in the first stage,all three fixed bed reactors are started from molasses wastewater until they operate stably and efficiently.In the second stage,the influent rapidly changes from molas-ses wastewater to livestock manure wastewater.In the third stage,the influent returns to the original molasses wastewater;In the first stage,the COD removal rate of the three reactors exceeded 75%at an OLR of 6.67 kgCOD·m-3d-1 and the volumetric gas production rate was 3.33 m3·m-3d-1.Subsequently,the influent of the three reactors was replaced with different types of livestock and poultry manure wastewater,with COD removal rates of 54%,60%,and 66%for R1(cow manure),R2(pig manure),and R3(chicken manure),respectively.In the third stage,the raw materials are all re-turned to the original molasses wastewater,and the COD removal rate is restored to around 68%.The VFA content in the effluent is around 200 mg·L-1;There are significant differences in the composition of the three types of livestock and poul-try manure raw materials,and the cellulose and lignin content of cow manure is significantly higher than that of pig manure and chicken manure,this may be the reason for the lower gas production rate of R1(cow manure);The pH,gas produc-tion,volatile fatty acid(VFA)content,and COD removal rate of the reactor showed significant fluctuations after replacing the raw materials.However,with continuous adaptation to the raw materials,various parameters tended to stabilize,indica-ting that the fixed bed reactor has a certain ability to resist sudden material impact;From the perspective of anaerobic treat-ment efficiency of different raw materials in the reactor,the gas production rate and COD removal rate are ranked from high to low as chicken manure,pig manure,and cow manure.关键词
